Hi, my name is Dani.
I’m a first-year law student at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Before law school, I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in broadcast journalism and gender studies. I find immense joy in learning, writing and talking about social issues that typically get pushed to the side. This is why I created this blog—to share my thoughts, spark conversations, and advocate for change.
“Don’t hold back because you think it’s unladylike. We shouldn’t be shamed out of our anger. We should be using it. Using it to make change in our own lives, and using it to make change in the lives around us.”
Jessica Valenti
I’m most passionate about women’s issues, such as reproductive rights, stereotypes and stigmas, intersectional discrimination, media representation, and gender-based violence. I was raised under the impression that America is the land of the free, so you can probably guess how shocked I was when SCOTUS stripped women of their freedom to choose, overturning Roe v. Wade.
Something inside me snapped the day that Roe v. Wade was overturned. Not only was this the day I decided to pursue law school, but it was also the day I embraced and expressed my anger unapologetically. Everything that makes me “unladylike,” being angry, loud, or bossy, are the exact things that give me my power.
Thus, lessthanladylike.net was born to inspire women to be less ladylike and go against the status quo. You can expect to read about topics like, but not limited to, feminism, intersectionality, racism, white privilege, the media, and (my personal favorite) abortion. Bodily autonomy is my jam!
This is me!
